Just a few days ago, my traveling coin returned from Brazil. I sent it out once again with volunteer missionary and good friend, Tommy Jones. Tommy is a brother in the Lord and long time member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church where we serve and worship together. As of this writing, I have not had the opportunity to visit with Tommy to hear the stories of what the Lord did in his presence while he was away… but I hope to catch up with him soon!
In case you are not familiar with the significance of the “Traveling Coin,” it is a large copper colored Tunisian coin that I received several years ago when I was there (Tunisia) on a vision mission trip. On that trip to North Africa, the Lord did many amazing things in my life and answered a huge question about my future. From that time on, I have kept that coin with me as a memento. For almost ten years it has traveled around in my pocket. Occasionally, however… I send it off with someone that I know and tell them to keep it with them and then tell me a story about how God changed their life on their missional journey.
So, on this trip, the Traveling Coin witnessed over 40 souls come to know Christ and helped build a church building for a new congregation of believers in Brazil. I’ll post a few pictures below that I have gleaned from some of my church friends who went on that trip. The featured picture at the top is of Tommy and a Brazilian as they shared a smile and the love of Jesus together. I can’t wait to hear more stories about changed lives… amen!
