Recently I had to be out and about to take care of some “company” and personal business. For those of you who have not lived in a large city (especially in Europe) and have not relied upon public transportation, it makes things more time consuming to move about from place to place. Now, this is not necessarily a bad thing because it gives you time to reflect as you ride the trams… and it allows you to absorb the culture more. It occasionally even allows you to stumble upon an English speaker to interact with and share the Good News. One thing for certain though, you must plan better and allow plenty of time to make appointments as you traverse the city.
This particular day, I had to go way across town for one thing and then back to another distant point for another. When I finished my business, I decided to walk from the Ceska tram stop to the main train station stop. Doing this takes you through a central area where there are lots of upscale shops and eateries. The large gothic cathedral is also along the way. One thing I really enjoy doing is admiring the old architecture. It seems like there are so many that leap out at me. Gorgeous buildings which have been repainted and statues with their golden accents that gleam in the sun. It sure is much different than my small West Tennessee hometown where we have one statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest that is weathered with time. This day was a beautiful cooler day with bright blue skies… and awesome day to do this.
