Yesterday afternoon Dawn and I went to Olomouc to take a small group of Roma ladies to a ministry event. To be honest, we did not have a lot of details before hand… only that the Armada Spasy (Salvation Army) was involved and there would be music and testimony. We believed this to be a good use of petrol and resources for many reasons. This allowed us to continue to grow relationships with our Roma friends and possibly make new contacts there in Olomouc. Both of these things turned out to be true.
The event was held outside in the cool of the evening in a “square” close to some office buildings. There was indeed some very good singing (in Czech of course) and people testifying about their desire to impact the world by reducing starvation and hunger among the poor. Different groups were involved in this event and I was blessed to be able to spend a lot of time talking to some Salvation Army folks who spoke English. I met the national leader for SA in Czech Republic and another of their people who has recently seen great success working with the Roma using music as a tool to evangelize the youth. Both of these conversations were valuable to me and there is potential to organize a musical / evangelistic event here in Brno in the future. Yes, this was a good day. I have added several photos below for your viewing.
