You know… life is not always an easy, straightforward experience… is it? This is the same when it comes to family dynamics. We have to work at it and love each other through the ups and downs of life. This is true of all families and if you “think” that anybody believes that your family involves an ideal “Leave it to Beaver” existence, then you are fooling yourself… not your neighbors.
Whew, that may have been an odd way to start this little message about “my” family but I think it is best to be honest. We are pretty much like many families out there who face trials and do our best to deal with them with the help of the Lord. Christian families are not exempt from the troubles of the world. We often need to show grace to each other and those around us as we continue through this life. I am thankful for my wife and children and I love them all deeply… sacrificially. The last four years of our lives have been a huge challenge as we have traveled the world and followed God in and through a missional existence. Often, we all paid the price of separation and stress as our family was broken up for a season. Now that we are back in Tennessee, we have tried to make the best of our “together” time and we look for opportunities to spend time together as schedules allow. The picture above is from a little day trip outing to Memphis. We just needed to get away for a bit and have a meal together and kick around the big city a little. In the photo, we were coming out of the Pink Palace where we had a coffee and watched an IMAX movie.
I pray that no matter where the Lord may direct our future ministry involvement, we can always find time to spend together as a family. Make is so Lord… amen.
