Last night at Englewood Baptist Church, a large group of men were BLESSED to hear Dr. Tony Evans and Pastor David Jett speak at the 2024 Maximum Man Conference. I was there and can say it was a huge blessing and encouragement. I saw many many men of stature from around West Tennessee who represented different walks of life. There were black men, white men, Hispanic men, Asian men, Indian me, African men, and likely other cultural representatives that I missed. Most were born again believers and I am sure there were visitors who were lost and needed to trust in Jesus for the first time.
Gary Taylor, a prominent businessman and friend to me and our CEF ministry, was the person who “made this happen,” so to speak. He has a personal relationship with Dr. Evans and has been instrumental in championing the Maximum Man movement in West Tennessee for two decades. I have been blessed to get to know Gary better and sit under his teaching for over eight years at this point. He leads a MM Men’s weekly Bible study at Englewood (main campus) and is known for his compassion and straight-talk -and- his love for all men, regardless of race or creed. I sincerely admire that about him… and it is not lip-service. He has the love of Jesus within him.
Ok, back to last night… Dr. Evans and Pastor Jett both spoke powerfully and directly to a room full of approximately 1200 men, with lots more in an overflow room. We were challenged through the life of King David, both during his youth and his later years as he faced eternity. Both did outstanding jobs of presenting the scripture. During Dr. Evans second session / sermon, he touched on the covenantal relationship that we have with God. He mentioned a new thing, at least to me, in my way of looking at things. It was how, even when we are saved and in God’s forever family, we may not be living under the covenant umbrella of blessings and power that are available to us. IF we are not in true alignment with His Spirit and purpose for our lives, we are missing out on the fuller life that He desires for us.
BAM! That clicked with me in a new way last night and I pray that I am wise and focused enough to take advantage of what I learned. I believe that I understood this concept and have heard it expressed in other ways over the years, but God revealed it fresh and new last night through the ministry of Dr. Evans and Maximum Man. Wrapping up, check the photos below from the event. God bless you, and Gary, thanks again brother for making this happen!
