Yesterday, our men’s discipleship group met and the topic of discussion was about being a witness for Christ. The morning started off a little problematic because the room where we meet had no heat and the temperature outside was around 19 F. I am not sure what it was inside but it was pretty cold. Anyway, I set up for the meeting, did some cleaning and prepared some light refreshments for the session. I was not sure who might come but I had hopes for a good group.
I was not disappointed! Four of our more senior men came and they were very serious about our discussions. They gave good feed back and even though it was cold, everyone stayed and we had a meaningful session. A little hot coffee and tea helped us to get going! I started out by discussing the general need for all of us to be witnesses for the Lord and how each of us have a unique story to share. We divided up the time by first talking about how we can use our own personal salvation story as a powerful witness. One of the men shared how he became a believer because another of the men in our group had shared with him and invited him to come to church with him. Awesome! I encouraged them to go home and actually write out their stories and try to develop a 5 minute testimony from their own thoughts and words.
The second part of our session focused on the tried and true witnessing method called “Share Jesus Without Fear” developed by Bill Fay. This sparked a lot of good discussion as we went through the introductory questions and then the scripture verses. After a two hour total time of discussion, we ended with a challenge to use one of the witnessing methods to share Jesus before our next session and tell how things went. God is good and may He give us opportunities and boldness! Amen.
Oh, by the way, the photo used here is of myself witnessing to a Roma man who was a struggling widower in Eastern Romania. Thankfully, he accepted Christ as his savior.
