Last night at the Gathering, our brother, Bobby Lewellen, shared the Word with us. His focus came from Ephesians 6:10-18 and a discussion about the armor of God. He also touched on some verses in Matthew to start his devotional thoughts.
I would sum up Bobby’s message as an encouragement to put on the full armor of God, understanding who we are in Christ. Thus, we should not be afraid of the devil – rather – he should be afraid of us, the prepared, blood-bought, warriors for Jesus.
Honestly, I do not know Bobby and his wife (Suzanne) all that well. However, I can sense his genuine intensity and commitment to his faith. He, like many of us, struggles with his place in the Kingdom and “if” he is worthy to serve the Lord, our God. I can empathize with that sentiment and I told Bobby the same as the night was winding down. If you have life struggles, those that can oppress you with the help of that old serpent, the devil, it is not an easy thing to keep the perspective of the conquering believer intact. I am just being honest here… many of us do not come from the sweet little “Leave it to Beaver” household. So, it is not as simple as it should be to keep our spiritual heads screwed on straight. Truth.
Now, as Bobby shared his heartfelt message with us, I appreciated his delivery and sincere demeanor. I am amazed that this couple has found their way to us, this diverse, multifaceted Gathering. I say again that our powerful, Almighty God is stirring the pot in Jackson, TN. He has an unusual, unconventional plan that is still unfolding for our unique group. I am thankful to be a part of it… amen.
After Bobby finished, Jared Okoth led us all in a dedicated and powerful prayer-time for our nation, it’s leaders, and our host city.
Now, here are a few photos taken from that night:
