Last night at the Gathering, our younger sister, Kate, shared a powerful devotional / message. Kate is a highly motivated, educated, and direct person… and I use those descriptors with a warm heart 🙂 She is passionate about her faith. I am certain that is one of the reasons our eclectic little fellowship loves her so much. Kate is also a pastor’s wife and proud mom. Somehow, she also finds time to do some work at an area clinic. She is a busy lady!
So, the topic that she chose to address last night was the dialog that Jesus had with the religious leaders of his day concerning… “and who is my neighbor?” Her reference scripture was Luke 10:25-37 and the accounting of what we normally refer to as “the Good Samaritan.” Kate started the conversation by sharing the scripture but offered it with a more contemporary spin. I’m sure she did this to get our attention since this is a well known story.
There is a LOT that I could say about her presentation last night, but to simplify things a little, my “take-aways” were these:
Kate, if you read this… thank you. Yes, you did tackle a very well known passage of scripture, but you did a wonderful job of making us think and see the ugly truth about the reality of who we are and who we need to be – in Jesus… amen.
Alright… here are a few photos from the evening. Hopefully, they will help you feel like you were there, virtually, of course!
