The overall ministry thrust for this trip was to evangelize our Roma friends who live in the area. The city of Jelsava and it’s mayor were very generous to us and allowed us to use their soccer stadium and culture center for our activities. The American students broke up into various teams with different goals and methods. We had teams which did direct street evangelism, played sports in the stadium, conducted other children’s activities, and pampered the Roma girls with nail painting and even haircuts. During the week, we also showed the film… The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Narnia movie) and afterward discussed the story of the true Lion of Judah and how it paralleled the movie.
