I am a missionary at heart. Even after years of ups and downs and round and rounds, that is still the calling God has placed upon my heart. He gives Christians purpose and direction in this life. Granted, it is not always an easy thing to submit to His wooing or step onto the path that He has chosen for you. However, it is the best path to follow. Mine started on the streets of Bucharest, Romania in 2001 and yesterday, it took me to Lincoln Courts in Jackson, TN.
Lincoln Courts is a public housing community, managed by the Jackson Housing Authority. It is an older neighborhood and has over 200 units. I have engaged in ministry at Lincoln Courts many times over the years. Generally, I have had great conversations with the residents and there are usually a lot of children present. Next week, I will help lead a team to share our 5-Day Club programming with the boys and girls who live there. This program is like a roaming VBS and is presented, primarily, by youth. That is where CYIA comes in. It is a CEF program… Christian Youth in Action. In the pictures you will see some of those young people. We distributed 150 invitations to come to 5-Day Club. These young men did an awesome job yesterday and will be involved throughout the summer as we move from place to place.
If you are reading this, please make a note to pray for CEF, our summer ministry volunteers, interns, and the hundreds of children who will hear the Gospel through our ministry. As of this writing, we will be working in four counties. Pray for safety, strength, and focus as we work through a total of six weeks in the field. God bless you and thank you for praying.
