Last Friday night, I had a small part to play in an important event that was held at Poplar Heights Baptist Church. A ministry friend and brother in Christ, Dr. John Freeman, organized the event. The subject matter was the same as the title of this article… Marxism in America. That statement / title may seem out of place to some people, but it represents an uncomfortable truth. The insidious ideology that is Marxism is indeed growing within the populous of our nation – especially within the collegiate world.
How can this be?
Why would college kids embrace such a wicked way of life? One of the event speakers had the answer to this question as he spoke on Friday night and the answer is… ignorance. Of course, ignorance simply means a lack of understanding. Some have coined this group of people as “low-information voters or citizens.” So, the problem is not stupidity, but rather a lack of knowledge. This Friday night event sought to present important information to the public. I believe it was successful in doing that.
My role in the evening was to get everyone focused on the patriotic roots of our nation. I’d add to that, a reference to our Christian foundation. So, I led the attendees in singing a rousing version of Onward Christian Soldiers, followed by America the Beautiful. Now, regardless of how mainstream media sources portray us, I firmly believe that the core of our country still has a strong representation made up of “God fearing Americans.” Obviously, the core may not all be “Christian,” but at least they believe in God and still have patriotism simmering in their souls.
The event was broken up into three parts: a historical perspective, first hand accounting, and ways we can combat the advancement of Marxism in America. I am certain that many people did not come to this event because the whole topic makes them a bit nervous – and it should. However, the nervousness should emanate from the problem though, not simply because a concerned group of citizens are willing to address the topic openly. In my opinion, the Marxists, communists, and socialists are thrilled when their rhetoric silences the common voice of a nation. Think about it.
If this article makes you feel uneasy, good. I have no desire to anger you or insinuate that you do not care. I do hope that it might cause you to do your own research and learn what the historical affect Marxism has had on the world. When you see the truth, the truth will set you free. Amen.
Here are a few photos from the event.
