Prayer is a powerful thing. Indeed it is! For several months now, I have had opportunities to join a local “prayer circle” in the Jackson area. This group of diverse believers and concerned community people generally gather each Thursday morning at 10am to pray for a school, civic group, or other nonprofit entity. I’ll add a few photos below to show some of those locations. Maybe you will recognize one or two of them 🙂
The prayer circle was started by Pastor Clarence Currie over two years ago as a response to COVID-19. He intended (and still does) to show support to those who were being so adversely affected by the pandemic. It is my understanding that they started at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital to show special support for those medical workers, nurses, and physicians who were on the front-line of the pandemic.
Since I have been involved, we have prayed for many worthy institutions and the city / county government. Naturally, each time we gather, we also pray for our nation. Scripture tells us that prayer is a powerful tool to use in the life of a Christian. We should never squander opportunities to utilize it. Here are just a few passages that affirm this: Romans 8:26, Philippians 4:6, 1 Timothy 2:1-4, and 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Pastor Currie, if you see this at some point in the future, you are loved and appreciated. Our Lord Jesus sees the efforts you make to effect change in our community, the nation, and the world. May He richly bless you for your faithfulness… amen.
