Mission Jackson is an outreach ministry of Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, TN. Several weeks ago, I got involved with this wonderful effort and I can’t say too much about it… in the positive, of course! Since coming home from Eastern Europe, I have been searching and praying for an opportunity to serve locally while we continue through this transitional phase of life. We visited a few churches in the area and when we visited Englewood Baptist Church a few months ago, their vision as an Acts 1:8 church resounded in my heart. This church is engaged with local and global missions in a big way.
Soon, I began visiting some of the 10 or so mission sites that they have established. These sites are scattered around the metropolitan Jackson area in various settings and multi-racial neighborhoods. After visiting 5 or 6 sites, I have been drawn to a site near the old Lambuth College campus (now University of Memphis) and hope to help start an adult bible study there with the folks in the neighborhood. The Mission Jackson weekly programs include several activities for children and youth and they are always striving to connect to the parents of these children. MJ provides camp opportunities, academic tutoring, mentoring, etc. I am amazed at how God has led me to this new ministry and I can only pray that I can be a small blessing to the effort and the people in the street who I come in contact with. Pray with me that this ministry will flourish in the weeks and months ahead. If you have any questions at all about it or would like to jump in and help, contact me and we’ll talk.
