On Wednesday, October 5th, 2011, I traveled to Prague to sit in on a forum / meeting regarding a Czech government agency / program which was designed to assist in helping to include Roma people into the fabric of Czech society. This forum was open to the public and there were people in the audience from various countries and organizations as well as individuals who are interested in discussion… such as myself. It was a blessing to have my young Czech friend Pavel K. travel with me and translate the bulk of the conversations which were presented.
I must say that from my perspective, the panel participants were open and honest with their comments. From what I heard voiced from the panel and then by public opinion, this program had good intentions but bias within some people in the Czech Republic prevented it from being as successful as they wanted it to be. Prejudice against the Roma is still a very real problem and we, as Christians, should continue to be a voice of peace and offer up regular prayers for this situation. God loves us all and that should be our message… amen.
These pictures were taken during the event, this was a “public” gathering.
