Early this week, my friends, Jared and Angela Okoth had an opportunity to share a powerful message with the children at the Boys and Girls Club in Humboldt… my hometown. Our friends at the club have a program called “RAP” which is designed to engage the children with teaching about good citizenship, forgiveness, encouragement, caring for others, and other topics that should enrich the lives of the boys and girls. I too assist in this effort, and we all know that it is good for our city, state, and nation to promote good behavior and respect for others.
The topic for this particular teaching was “forgiveness.” Angela brought a wonderful teaching on forgiveness from a spiritual standpoint. She prepared several tree cut-outs and other materials to help the children see how harboring unforgiveness and bitterness in our hearts would produce attitudes that would hurt us and others. She then pointed out how cultivating good attitudes and love and compassion produces “good fruit.” in our lives.
The focus verse from scripture was:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, - Gal 5:22
I am so thankful for my brothers and sisters in Christ who share their time with children, teaching them principles that are Godly and promote strong citizenship practices. Bravo! Jared and Angela! Thank you for loving the children of my city!
