As I start writing this blog post, I have a Maranatha Praise Band (Promise Keepers) song playing in my head… “If my people, called by my Name… will humble themselves and pray…”
Maybe you have heard this song? If not, visit this link to listen if you would like to. It will put you in the right frame of mind to understand where my thoughts are coming from as I type on digital paper this morning. If you have read through my blog, you know that I have a genuine affinity for hanging out with internationals, diverse citizens of this globe we call Earth. That is not lip-service, it is true. God broke my heart for the nations many many years ago and when He did, I also gained a love for the diverse mashup of humanity that represent His people. In heaven, we will all be together. Yes, we will. Like it or not, you will mix and mingle with black people, white people, brown people, yellow people, red people, and all the glorious shades of skin that He has created… amen. If the thought of that makes you a little nervous, you need to ask yourself “why?”
Onward and upward…
Last night, I was blessed to join a group of brothers and sisters for a time of prayer and fellowship. I have been meeting with the core group for a few months at this point. We typically gather together during the first week of each month, fast for a day, then share our prayer requests and recount answered prayers. It really is a lovely experience. At this particular gathering of believers, we had a few new faces in the room. I won’t name everyone who was present, but it is worth noting that we had a few newbies (sort of) with us last night. One brother is a missionary (not my old organization) who has done work in a multiple locations. I was so happy to see them all!
I do not think it would be proper to share all the specifics of the evening, but a common theme started to develop as we shared our prayer requests. The missionary brother mentioned above stated that he had worked with CEF in Jamaca. A little later, two sisters in the group said that they too had worked with CEF as volunteers in years past. If you add to that Jared, Angela, Corey, Kate, their two young children, Joshua, and Caleb, each one having volunteer experience doing field work with CEF, there were nine people in that small group who are or were connected to CEF. I did not count Corey’s two young children in that total 🙂 This does not even include our host, Dr. Abraham, who has worked with us on an academic level. I must tell you that this is unheard of, at least in the immediate area. Usually, the groups that I speak to do not have a clue about the ministry and mission of CEF.
I can tell you that I bragged on God a LOT for the prayers He has answered over the last three months. It is amazing to share prayers with this powerful group, knowing that they are engaged in strong Kingdom communication, Amen! I appreciate them one and all. In His wisdom and timing… maybe my Heavenly Father knew that I could use the encouragement right now, just before I venture into a very busy season of summer ministry.
I’ll stop right here and share a few photos taken last night. Keep praying.
