Yesterday, I was on the campus of my alma mater, Union University. The occasion was a student ministry expo, where nonprofits are invited to set up a table and talk to students about ministry opportunities. I, along with a new CEF colleague, Marty King, engaged several students with general information about CEF and our need for two summer interns.
We met some awesome candidates and have already established two appointments to take a deeper dive into the possibilities. A few others expressed interest, and we even met two students who had previous experience with CYIA, our summer ministry program. These young ladies were from Oregon and Florida, respectively. Unfortunately (for us), they were already committed to other activities this summer, but maybe they will reconnect with us in 2024. That would be great… advance planning, that’s the ticket!
So, it was a great event and a good day to be at UU, enjoying the campus as I wandered about some. I attended the morning chapel service too and in that same building, I ran across several displays of past theatrical events. One of these featured my daughter, Heather, when she played a role in “Measure for Measure.” Union certainly holds a lot of memories for me, most are exceptionally good. I also have the good fortune to have great relationships with many faculty members, professors, and even Dr. Dub, the president of the university. Several of them have donated time and treasure to advance the mission of CEF, which is to consistently share a clear Gospel witness to the boys and girls of Jackson and central West Tennessee. God bless you all for your generosity!
Here are a few photos that I took yesterday and one bonus pic of me, taken my Marty.
